The majestic Mount Kilimanjaro rises up from the rainforest of north-eastern Tanzania to its pristine, snow-topped summit at 5,895 meters. Embark a truly unforgettable experience with the Kilimanjaro Expedition. We will be trekking through the forest, walking above the clouds, traversing through the moorland zone, and passing through the ice fields and the glaciated steep vertical cliffs of Kibo’s south face. On the approach, you get the magnificent views of the ice fields and the Kilimanjaro summit. You can descend via the Mweka route a steep yet beautiful trail that takes you through dry mountain desert and lowland forest. You get to see the different sides of the mountain through this and get to experience more on this expedition. Each day has a different scenery and views to offer, starting from the magnificent rain forests, high alpine deserts, ice fields to the vast glaciers and the views into the horizon from the top.
Lemosho Route is the longest of the standard routes and is without doubt the most beautiful. The Lemosho route is one of the newer routes on the mountain, and a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low traffic, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge. Unlike the popular Machame route, which simply intersects the Shira Plateau, the Lemosho route crosses the entirety of the plain from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. An added bonus is that climbers will encounter low traffic until the route joins the Machame route. Afterwards, Lemosho follows the same route through Lava Tower, Barranco and Barafu, known as the southern circuit. Descent is made via the Mweka route.Lemosho is considered the most scenic route on Kilimanjaro, and grants panoramic vistas on various sides of the mountain. Thus, Lemosho is highly recommende

Highlights
- Unrivaled Scenic Diversity: Because Lemosho starts on the western side, you traverse nearly all of Kilimanjaro’s climate zones
The Rainforest: Begin in lush montane forests often populated by Blue Monkeys and Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys.
The Shira Plateau: One of the most famous highlights—a vast, high-altitude caldera that offers 360-degree views and a sense of true wilderness.
The Southern Circuit: You’ll circle the southern flank of Kibo, offering changing perspectives of the summit glaciers and the Southern Icefields. - Iconic Landmarks: Shira Cathedral: A massive volcanic rock spire on the plateau that provides a perfect acclimatization hike and a stunning photo op. Lava Tower: A 300-foot volcanic “plug” that serves as a milestone for hikers. It’s a stark, prehistoric landscape that feels like another planet. The Barranco Wall: Known as the “Breakfast Wall,” this is a non-technical but exhilarating scramble. It’s often the most talked-about part of the trek—challenging but accessible to anyone with a steady foot.
- Low Initial Traffic: While popular routes like Machame can be crowded from day one, Lemosho starts at the remote Londorossi Gate. You’ll enjoy 2–3 days of relatively quiet trails before the route merges with the Machame trail near the Shira Plateau.
Lemosho is designed for “Climb High, Sleep Low.” By traversing the mountain over 8 days, your body has more time to adjust to the thinning air compared to the direct Marangu or Machame routes.
